The Airplane controller is a portable percussion device that uses lasers and an infrared camera to turn any flat surface into a multi-touch controller for music and other media applications. The device is playable either with the hands, mallets or sticks. It was developed at the Music Conservatory of Geneva with funding provided by the Swiss National Funding Agency.

A few of my contributions to this project were:

creating the computer vision app that would interface with the camera and extract gestural information from camera frames
creating an accompanying software editor for configuring the surface as a control interface using a library of control elements, such as buttons, sliders, and pads (together with my collegue, Pierrick Zoss)
